Dr. Daphne Nahmiash: Handicap-Vie-Dignit\u00e9 | Women of Worth<\/a><\/h5>\n

Dr. Daphne Nahmiash, honored as one of L’Or\u00e9al Paris Canada’s 2022 Women of Worth, is a tireless advocate for the rights of elderly individuals in long-term care. As president of Handicap-Vie-Dignit\u00e9, she works to improve conditions for nearly 40,000 adults in Quebec by developing educational tools and collaborating with health professionals and the legal system to raise awareness and promote dignity.<\/p>\n

The Observatory on Aging and Society (OVS) can be compared to a telescope turned towards the earth instead of the stars; it observes society and focuses on seniors. A non-profit organization created in 2003 and a privileged partner of the University Institute of Geriatrics of Montreal (IUGM), it operates from its Research Center. The OVS functions mainly thanks to the volunteer work of older adults, retired or pre-retired individuals. It has more than 3000 corresponding members, and its website is consulted by approximately 8000 people monthly.<\/p>\n

The OVS aims to promote healthy aging among seniors by assisting reflection and individual and collective decision-making on the challenges posed by the aging of the population and its consequences on society.<\/p>\n
