Ann Vergeylen holds a Master’s degree in Educational Technology from Concordia University. She has developed custom training for corporate clients for over twenty years. She became interested in elder care when her mother developed dementia and received services from a homecare agency. Ann continues to care for her mother who now resides in a long term care facility. Her interest in elder advocacy started while experiencing first-hand what it’s like to have a vulnerable parent living in an institution and under the care of the Public Curator. She believes in promoting awareness of issues that impact vulnerable people in the health care system. She is a contributing member of the Association for the Defense and People and Property under Public Curatorship and the NDG Community Committee on Elder Abuse.
She recently completed an online course for NDGCCEA entitled “Your rights in a long term care facility” that is aimed at representatives of an older adult living in a CHSLD. This course was developed under a grant managed by HVD, funded by the Helene Rumak Fund.
