Countering organizational mistreatment in Quebec’s residential care facilities

A research team at the University of Quebec Trois-Rivières has organized forums to gather citizens’ perceptions of an Ethical Reflection Guide and the tools in countering organizational mistreatment. Organizational mistreatment is any harmful situation created or tolerated by the procedures of organizations (private, public, community-based) responsible for providing care or services of any kind, which compromises the exercise of individuals’ rights and freedoms. The tools are designed to counter organizational mistreatment perpetrated against residents in Quebec residential care facilities. The primary objective is to make these tools accessible to all those affected by this type of mistreatment, including residents themselves, their families and loved ones, caregivers, managers, and decision-makers.

It is hoped that these individuals will be able to work together to put an end to the organizational mistreatment situations that occur in their environment.
