YVON RIENDEAU, M.A. B.Ed.
Social Gerontologist
Yvon Riendeau, M.A. B. Ed., is a former patient attendant (PAB) in CHSLDs; he has a Masters Degree in Social Gerontology from the UQAM and prepared a position paper in 2006 on “The quality of care in CHSLDs: opinion of patient attendants”. He has been a teacher at the School of Vocational Studies for patient attendants and health service assistants and at CLSCs since 1986. For the past 15 years, he has been a lecturer in Social Gerontology at the UQAM. Mr. Riendeau is also a spokesperson for the Association québécoise de défense des droits des personnes retraitées et préretraitées (Quebec Advocacy Association for the Rights of Retirees and Early Retirees), the Office Municipal d’habitation (Municipal Housing Authority), for Volunteer Action Centres and Retirement Home User Committees. Between 1986 and 2015, he was a training representative for CLSCs, hospital centres, low income housing and private residences. Through personalized training, he also helped CHSLD managers and staff implement the MILIEU DE VIE concept across Quebec between 2003 and 2013. Finally, he is one of four experts to have worked on developing the first Government Action Plan to Counter Elder Abuse (2010-2015).
