Virtual workshop on ageism

On February 11th and April 8, ten senior students from Rosemount High School alongside Spiritual and Community Animator Vince Lacroce, participated in a virtual workshop on ageism organized by the Observatory on Aging & Society (OAS). This two-part workshop was offered by Daphne Nahmiash, PhD. The OAS, a non-profit organization that has been active in Quebec for nearly two decades, aims to improve the quality of life of seniors and address the challenges of ageism and its consequences within our society.

The OAS wishes to change the way we look at aging and seniors and uses innovative strategies to raise awareness among seniors, such as creating a comic strip entitled: Ageism at a Glance, How Does it Happen? The comic will address observed issues for seniors in the areas of family, education, work, health, media and politics. This tool will be used to demystify ageism, promote care efforts towards seniors and foster healthy intergenerational relationships.
